A Mega Education Fairof SNDT Women’s University (SNDTWU)

A Mega Education Fairof SNDT Women’s University (SNDTWU) envisioned by Hon. Vice Chancellor Prof. Vasudha Kamath began with lots of interesting educational events on 27thJanuary 2012. It was inaugurated by Shri. Nikhil Waghle, Editor of IBN Lokmat at its Juhu Campus, Juhu Tara Road, Santacruz (West), Mumbai. Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University which was established in the year 1916 will be entering into centennial year in the year 2012-16.

The exhibition has showcased about 140 graduate and post graduate degree programmes offered by the university which include Bachelor, Master, M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes the SNDT Women’s University presently offers.  It has also provided information on several Diplomas, Advance Diplomas, Post Graduate Diplomas in various subject areas.  All these degrees and diplomas are in Arts (English, Marathi, Gujarati, English, Sanskrit) Social Science (Sociology, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Geography, History), Commerce, Home Science, Science, Technology, Education, Management, Nursing, Social Work, Poly technique, Library and Information Science. The University exclusively offers many unique degree programmes in subjects such as Food Science and Nutrition, Communication Media for Children, Jewelry Design, Instructional Design, Social Work, EducationManagement, Women Studies, Special Educationetc.

The Mega EducationFairis organized to create awareness about Excellent Educational and career opportunities offered by SNDT Women’s University through its 32 post graduate departments, 14 instructions and 230 affiliated colleges.  Apart from stalls of departments and colleges/institutions of the University (including some affiliated colleges) the exhibition has created platform for Talks by Eminent Experts, Aptitude Testing registration and Career Guidance, educational songs, skits and plays with message of empowerment of women and highlight in burning problems of Indian women such as declining sex ratio, violence against women, trafficking of girls, mental health problems, challenges before differently abled girls. One of the major attraction of the Education Fair was “Meet our Starts” programmes (through which audience met our well known alumni) for those interested in specific careers.

Hundreds of students and teachers from schools and colleges, NGOs and communities from different parts of Mumbai visited this Education Fair and found it extremely inspiring that SNDTWU proved so many choices to women seeking opportunities for education in liberal arts, social sciences and professional courses in engineering, physiotherapy, nursing, polytechnique, law, education technology and IT and pharmacy.  The university offers career avenues after higher secondary, graduate and postgraduate studies.   Parents and women students appearing for tenth, twelfth as well as Bachelors Examination this year also visited the fairat SNDTWU Juhu Campus on to make possible academic choices for them at SNDTWU.
