We are happy to invite you for a workshop on Introduction to SomaticHealing organized by Arpan.The workshop will be conducted by Vikramjeet Sinha, an experienced ABT practitioner.

Somatic Healing is a body-awareness approach to trauma being taught throughout the world. It is the result of over forty years of observation, research, and hands-on development by Dr. Levine. Based upon the realization that human beings have an innate ability to overcome the effects of trauma, Somatic healinghas been found to be an effective tool for many. It is a form of therapy aimed at relieving and resolving the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental and physical trauma-related health problems by focusing on the perceived body sensations (or somatic experiences).

Level 1: The workshop will be experiential in nature and will provide a window to Somatic Experiencing. The participants will be introduced to the concept of Somatic Healing and will be taught the techniques to work on themselves by using the same.

The workshop is open to mental health practitioners as well as those who want to experience SomaticExperiencing for themselves at an individual level.

Level 2:Second level somatic healing is based on the same principals of somatic healing which is SIBAM, Sensations, Impressions , Behaviour, Affect and Memory.

It is through a titrated method we trigger memories in the body through sensations which are uncomfortable and release them through heat, shivering, trembling which is in somatic language called discharge.

In the Second level somatic healing the aim is to understand the basic level and then be able to apply it on someone else. The scanning mechanisms and the associated knowledge with the flight and fight mechanism will be transmitted to individual practitioners.

Also a deeper understanding of somatic healing along with the understanding of EFT , (Emotional Freedom Technique), of tap therapy , on the energy meridians of the body will also be adminisered on the self and others .The second level of somatic healing will be a level of empowering the self and the others with tools of healing that allow practitioners to have a deeper understanding of trauma healing .

About Vikramjeet Sinha

Vikramjeet Sinha is ABT Area Supervisor for Kolkatta and Northeast India. He is a drama therapy practitioner with an exceptional quality of facilitation. He has more than 10 years of experience of working in the social development sector and has conducted several workshops in psychodrama, healing the self and on wide range of social issues of children, women and men from a variety of social backgrounds around the themes of corruption,

gender, violence, literacy, mental and emotional health.

Vikram holds a degree in English Literature and a Masters in Social Anthropology. Besides being an ABT Practitioner, Vikramjeet has many other professional excellences, which include training in Clinical Hypnotherapy from Californian School of Hypnosis, trainings in Trauma Therapy and Play Therapy with the British Association of Play Therapists.
