Subject : Stop a nuclear disaster

Hi ,
Our government is churning out one hazardous bill after another. This time it is a bill called the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage, and it's coming up for a vote in a couple of days.

The bill lets U.S. corporations off the hook for any nuclear accidents they cause on Indian soil. They'd only have to pay a meagre amount, and Indian taxpayers would be stuck paying crores for the nuclear clean up and to compensate the victims.

Without any public debate, the Prime Minister is appeasing American interests and ignoring our safety.

Greenpeace is launching a petition asking the PM to hold a public consultation before introducing the bill.

I have already signed this petition. Can you join me?

Subject : About Mumbai Railway Issues
Hi,
I am Santosh Sonawane daily travels by local trains in central suburban railway. Daily Journey by Local is very hectic for me as well as others between the pick period i.e. 7 A.M. To 11 A.M. and in the evening between 5 P.M. to 11 P.M. becuase of most of public are going to offices and business at that time and leaving for the same. Are there any plans are workout for that problem. Also another thing is that there are too many accidents happened in a daily basis on both lines i.e. CR and WR but no solution is yet coming for decreasing the number of accidents. I want to suggest you that there should be compulsory one amubalnce and first-aid serivce availabe on each and every station on both lines. I observed that railway police take lot of time to do panchnama of that person who got injured in railway accident. Most of Accidents happened due to falling from footboard of train or by heating the railway polls. So for that the solution is Nobody should be standing on footboard of train or removing the railways polls which is nearby the tracks. How much time will cope with this problem's solutions so that anybody will travel safely by trains. I think there is minimum one train by an hour distance from every station to decreased the problem of croudy trains during pick hours.
I will be grateful if u will be looked in this matter and try to solve this problem as early as possible.
Thanks
Regards
Santosh Sonawane.

Making efforts to help birds survive
Deepti Acharya
To create awareness about the declining numbers of house sparrows, March 20
is observed as World House Sparrow Day. To support the objective, Plants and
Animal Welfare Society (Paws) and National Service Scheme (NSS), a unit of
NKTT College, Thane, in media partnership with DNA has organised an event in
Thane.
With urbanisation, declining quality of environment and sparse green cover,
the number of house sparrows, one of the most commonly-found bird species
earlier, has declined over a period of time. On the day, events and
awareness campaigns highlight issues like house sparrow nesting sites, food,
effects of pesticides, microwave pollution that acts as a silent killer and
how this species can be helped to survive adverse conditions. ?House
sparrows engage in building nests in crevices, but glass and concrete
structures have little space,? said Nilesh Bhanage, founder-trustee of Paws.

Subject : Nuisance from cleanup vehicles and dumpers Hello
Your help is requested in the following matter!!
From last few months we have been experiencing a lot of nuisance from the
BMC?s cleanup vehicles & dumpers in our area which falls under north Mumbai
constituency
These vehicles start daily at 6.30 am and continue throughout the day at
regular intervals on "Adinath Marg", a cross road which extends from
Yoginagar-link road junction to Gokhale college (Borivali-west) This road is
partly built by tar & there has been a lot of repair work from Reliance
throughout this road. They have caused potholes/ rough patches along the
breadth of this road at the regular distance. These cleanup vehicles &
dumpers being very heavy, cause *tremendous noise* when they hit these
potholes/ rough patches. The drivers seem to be very rash and naturally less
bothered about the vehicles and the residents living in this area. The
senior citizens and the infants seem to be the most affected because of the
loud noise. The huge roar also generates vibration across the affected
buildings which might affect their structure in future.
We would be relieved only when BMC reroutes these vehicles and fills up the
potholes/ rough patches along this road.
A complaint is lodged on BMC's website but in vain.
A video is attached for more clarity.
Thanks in advance

Subject : Thane Station - Railway Bridge every possibility of Stampade We Thane First Forum has taken the Photo also we have the video shoot and have sent it to General Manager Railway (Central Railway) also to the Honourable Railway Minister Ms. Mamta Banaerjee. Till date No Response.
Dear Mamataji
We are a group of individual professionals & businesspersons staying in Thane and through Thane First Forum, our resolve is to identify city?s problems and help authorities in taking corrective steps to improve the situation for the betterment of citizens.
Through this letter and with attached CDs of video & pictures we wish to state that during peak hours when trains on even two platforms come together (Thane station has ten platforms) it becomes a stampede like situation on both the Foot Over Bridges. On these bridges, which are connecting all the platforms and serve as exit routes for east and west sides of the city, tragedy is waiting to happen. Even an individual?s fall or smallest mischief by any rogue element can convert into a huge disaster claiming lives of many innocents. Moreover, besides being a big security risk it is very traumatic for working women to protect their modesty and honor in uncontrollable crowd of this magnitude.
You will agree that Thane city has developed leaps & bounds in recent years hence the number of commuters has also grown multifold. However, the infrastructure on station remains the same as it used to be many years ago. Bridges and connected stairs are too small in width to accommodate ever-increasing inflow of passengers and need to be redeveloped on war footing without any delay. Hence, we request you to take immediate action in this matter in the best interest of hard-pressed passengers of Thane city.
As the memories of an under construction bridge falling on a running train a few weeks ago killing motor man and a couple of passengers are fresh in the minds an active step to spare Thaneites from another tragedy will go a long way in restoring the confidence of the people.
We also wish to emphasize that this footage was taken between 6:40 pm to 6:55 pm on 17th November 2009 and no professional photographer or videographer was engaged in the process. Recording was done our own members with their personal cameras from a very safe distance protecting themselves and the instruments from the maddening crowd and may not reflect the true horrors of the situation but certainly reflects an idea of the situation at the venue.
We are also submitting the copy of this letter along with CDs to GM C Rly and Station Manager Thane to make them aware of the situation.
Hope to hear soon from your end in this regard.
Yours truly
