MoRD’s flagship project Aajeevika is a placement linked skill training program for rural BPL youths. Beneficiaries of the program are trained in market driven skills and assisted with placement opportunities. “On the Job Training-OJT” is a part of the course which provides an exposure to the beneficiaries on the reality of the market trade. One such exposure trip was organized on 15 July, 2013 for the first batch of beneficiaries of retail & sales trade currently getting trained at the AROH Aajeevika training centre at Bokaro.
Prior to the visit Mr Upendra, trainer of the trade contacted the HR heads of retail chains like Big Bazar, Reliance fresh, Vishal Mega Mart and took an appointment with them for the beneficiaries visit at Ranchi. He met them personally and explained the features of the program. After understanding the motive behind, they all agreed and granted their permission to conduct the exposure visit at their outlets.
18 beneficiaries of the said trade along with the trainer reached Reliance fresh outlet first in the morning. Mr Aswin-HR Head received the team and introduced them to Ms Dipti Priya the store manager.
Ms Dipti then took them around explaining the features of the outlet and on its operational procedure. She also explained on the total selling and merchandising process of the outlet. They all carefully listened to the information and took a note of it. She even encouraged to raise queries and answered it with patience.
Seeing the inquisitive, calm, quiet and good behavior of the beneficiaries, Mr Aswin & Ms Dipti asked the trainer to bring the beneficiaries for interview post completion of their course. Mr Upendra thanked the team members of Reliance fresh for accommodating them and assisting them.
After the Relinace fresh visit, the next stop of the leg was Vishal Mega Mart. Mr Anand Kumar greeted the AROH team and took them around all the departments to get a firsthand experience of working at the outlet. Mr Anand too assured on the placement prospects of the beneficiaries and shared the information that a new outlet would be opened shortly at chas and at the time of opening, beneficiaries of the Aajeevika program would be given preference. This tie up would help in achieving the placement of beneficiaries locally. Finally bidding adieu, beneficiaries thanked the Vishal mega mart team for their support and they in turn wished them for a bright future.
