Sion residents take traffic into their own hands

With the city cops failing to tackle the problem of haphazardly parked tourist buses in Sion, people living near Sion Circle have started manning the haphazard parking on their own.

According to the Sion Welfare Forum, the footpath near Gurukripa Hotel and the one opposite Vallab Vidayalaya High School are very narrow and full of passengers, luggage and heavy loads brought from transporters to load on the buses, mainly between 4pm and 11 pm.

"This is a residential area but these buses have made it their private depot. We have no choice but to man the traffic on our own. We have formed the Sion Traffic Police Committee to look into all traffic related matters," explained Ajay Pandya, a representative of the forum. Pandya revealed that the forum had recently taken help of adjacent schools students to man traffic as well.
