Preventing accidents for pedestrians at Amar Mahal area

Name of Road:
Amar Mahal = Ghatkopar Road
Further description of location (if needed for better understanding):
Pestom Sagar Road 2 meets Amar Mahal Ghatkopar Road at this Junction and there is a Traffic Signal there
Name of Cross Road, if at a junction:
R T Kadam Marg
Nearest landmark or building:
Tapasya ( a little away is Sahakar Cinema)
Locality:
Tilak Nagar
What troubles you regarding traffic or pedestrian safety at that location?:
The area has seen many accidents. Dr Ramesh Subramaniam was hit and had a leg fracture. A school girl was hit by a bus. Traffic Signal Poles are not in places where they ought to be. No STOP LINES. No Lane Discipline. No visible and proper PEDESTRIAN CROSSING markings. Most of the senior citizens cross the junction in autos to avoid injuries. Two wheelers are the greatest problem. They are above rules. Lanes are blocked as there is a CNG filling station for autos nearby.
What do you recommend be done as a solution?:
Needs a complete overhaul. Lane marking necessary. STOP lines necessary. Pedestrian signals to be placed at a proper location. Islanding needed to segregate Ghatkopar bound traffic from Tilaknagar. This island will provide some safety for pedestrians as they wait for their signal. Timing for crossing to be adjusted. Pedestrians are not athletes capable of sprinting. The radius of curvature for vehicles turning to Sahakar Cinemaside as they approach from Amar Mahal needs to be proper. Roadsides are highly uneven. Paver blocks in absolute mess.
Is there a traffic violation or specific incident that has triggered this suggestion?:
We have been trying for tears ( I still have the text of the article that appeared in MIDDAY) to get this junction in proper order befitting the status of a city claiming to be commercial capital of India. There is a cinema, there are two schools, one more for handicapped category, a Post Office, Reliance East Zone office, several banks etc in vicinity which create traffic. It looks as though unless there are some more serious accidents, this junction will not get any attention. We are trying to avoid that scenario, by repeated appeals.
